Cholesterol and ED

Note the stationary ad for ED promotion while this attractive young female doc talks about cholesterol and HD. Is this an infomercial on cholesterol and heart disease (HD), or an attempt to sell ED (erectile dysfunction) drugs to men with HD? You be the judge. Comments?

Plavix: Are pre-schoolers allowed to write precriptions for this drug?

July 13, 2010 by Sri Leave a Comment

A few minutes ago, I saw a commercial for Plavix (a drug that can prevent future heart attacks, as per the commercial) on the CBS evening news with Katie Couric. After some seemingly “doctor” stuff, which can only impress people with IQs less than room temperature in Centigrade, not Fahrenheit, the actor Doc writes a prescription for Plavix in CAPS (PLAVIX). This made me wonder: Does the law in any state (which licenses physicians) allow kindergarderners to write prescriptions for this drug? I am now seeing the impact of a science-challenged sociey on commercial advertisement. By the way, Centigarde numbers are smaller that Fahrenheit numbers.

Srikumaran Melethil

Briefly, I am a pharmaceutical scientist, university professor (retired), and a patent attorney. I have also tutored 4th-11th graders in math. My CV (see link below) will tell you more about me. I created this website mostly for educational and informational purposes (please visit the publication section). Hopefully, you will find these writings useful. And, yes, if somebody can use my “skill sets”, as Liam Neeson of the “Taken” movies’ fame might say, that will be wonderful too! I can’t wait for his next movie! Really.
